Blog Entry 3

In the film food is used by the main character to express how she feels about things emotionally. This was shown mostly over her talking to her therapist. It is also used for family with helping the niece after her mother dies, and the conflict that also arose from that when she lied to her school. Also it is the basis for the love story. Which was conflicted in the story when she started out assuming that he would take her job, and be replaced. Which as the film established her job is the only thing she does care about. Also as a means of getting more people in her nieces life. Another thing is the food being used to refer to a characters well being. Starting out with Martha not eating because of the stresses of daily life. Then her niece refusing to eat after her mother died. Also earlier in the film the food is also used as a means of her getting to meet her neighbor who she likes at first. Which was a very interesting scene, because usually the act of doing that in films in that way is normally done by a man. Where the character is a little socially awkward, but is not good at trying to interact with someone they like.
